Donald Trump is comparing himself to Jesus Christ while escalating attacks against the leader of the Catholic Church.
Late on Sunday evening (April 12), the 79-year-old president took to social media to slam Pope Leo, who has become an outspoken critic of the ongoing war in Iran and has directly urged Trump to seek an “off-ramp” for the military action.
In a heated statement, Trump slammed Pope Leo as being “weak on crime, and terrible for foreign policy,” amongst other complaints. He also took credit for the pope being selected as the leader of the faith.
Less than an hour later, he returned to share an AI-generated photo depicting himself as Jesus, the son of God, seemingly performing a miracle.

“Pope Leo is WEAK on Crime, and terrible for Foreign Policy,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “He talks about ‘fear’ of the Trump Administration, but doesn’t mention the FEAR that the Catholic Church, and all other Christian Organizations, had during COVID when they were arresting priests, ministers, and everybody else, for holding Church Services, even when going outside, and being ten and even twenty feet apart.”
Continuing, he wrote, “I like his brother Louis much better than I like him, because Louis is all MAGA. He gets it, and Leo doesn’t!”
“I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s OK for Iran to have a Nuclear Weapon. I don’t want a Pope who thinks it’s terrible that America attacked Venezuela, a Country that was sending massive amounts of Drugs into the United States and, even worse, emptying their prisons, including murderers, drug dealers, and killers, into our Country. And I don’t want a Pope who criticizes the President of the United States because I’m doing exactly what I was elected, IN A LANDSLIDE, to do, setting Record Low Numbers in Crime, and creating the Greatest Stock Market in History,” he seethed.
Trump described Pope Leo‘s selection as pope as being “a shocking surprise,” explaining, “He wasn’t on any list to be Pope, and was only put there by the Church because he was an American, and they thought that would be the best way to deal with President Donald J. Trump.”
“If I wasn’t in the White House, Leo wouldn’t be in the Vatican. Unfortunately, Leo’s Weak on Crime, Weak on Nuclear Weapons, does not sit well with me, nor does the fact that he meets with Obama Sympathizers like David Axelrod, a LOSER from the Left, who is one of those who wanted churchgoers and clerics to be arrested. Leo should get his act together as Pope, use Common Sense, stop catering to the Radical Left, and focus on being a Great Pope, not a Politician. It’s hurting him very badly and, more importantly, it’s hurting the Catholic Church!” the president concluded.
In the shocking photo that he later posted on Truth Social, Trump appeared to be channeling Jesus in a white robe with a red stole.
As fighter jets and eagles flew across the sky and an American flag billowed in the background, the president placed his glowing hand upon a man who appeared to be in a hospital bed. The implication appeared to be that Trump was performing a miracle to heal the man as others, including a praying woman and a nurse, looked on in awe.
Just Jared contacted the White House for comment on the photo, but did not hear back at the time of publication.
This is not the first time that Trump has directly compared himself to Jesus within the last few weeks. Mere days ahead of Easter, he revealed two things that he thought they had in common.
The president also recently lobbed furious attacks on some of his long-term allies and supporters after they publicly disagreed with some of his policies.
