
Shaquille O’Neal is explaining why he doesn’t text any NBA stars at all.
The 54-year-old four-time NBA champion says he doesn’t like athletes or superstars because “they’re a–holes.”
“I denounced myself from being a celebrity about 10 years ago because those people are weird. I’m not weird,” Shaq told The New York Post.

Even when he visits the tech superstore tm:rw in New York, in which he is a partner and investor, he prefers to keep things low key and only travels with two guys.
“No entourage,” he said. “We come in here, we take care of business … We sign autographs. We treat people with honor and respect … I want to be a regular guy.”
However he does have pieces of memorabilia from his time playing on the Los Angeles Lakers with the late Kobe Bryant, saying that it “brings back memories of the greatest one-two punch ever.”
Lately, Shaq has been encouraging more athletes to get educated in business. He earned his PhD from Barry University in 2012 and is dedicated to setting an example for his own six kids and younger fans. He’s also working on his fourth degree currently, a master’s in liberal arts.
“I thought about sports psychology, but it was a little too much for me, the psychology field,” he shared.
