Nicholas Galitzine is reflecting on his career now that Masters of the Universe is in theaters, and how he wants it to evolve.

The 30-year-old actor recently revealed the advice Hugh Jackman gave him before filming the upcoming fantasy blockbuster, in which Nicholas, 31, takes on the role of Adam Glenn/He-Man.

“I luckily had just worked with Hugh Jackman right before we started filming, and we talked a fair bit about the process,” Nicholas shared with VMAN in his new interview published on Friday (June 5).

Referencing Hugh‘s experience launching the X-Men franchise, Nicholas explained, “He made a point to me that when he did the first X-Men, compared to the other iterations, it was such a steep learning curve for him, but once he did it, he had learned so much that it became easier.”

Nicholas added that he hopes future installments of Masters of the Universe would benefit from the same experience if the franchise continues.

The actor also addressed being labeled a “heartthrob,” saying he doesn’t want a single description to define him.

“As monikers, those don’t necessarily encapsulate what I want to do, who I am, and how I see myself,” the Purple Hearts star said.

He pointed to recent and upcoming projects featuring more morally complex characters, adding that he’s focused on diversifying his work and exploring different types of roles in the years ahead.

“Especially in the last few years, I feel like I’ve been able to gather more agency in my career. It’s about diversifying the projects you do. I just wrapped a tiny little movie—you can make this movie probably 100 times with Masters of the Universe’s budget–where I play morally gray characters. I did a lovely indie movie called The 100 Nights of Hero, where I play a morally gray character,” Nicholas explained.

“I have quite an exciting couple of years coming up where I feel the roles are extremely different, so who knows, maybe people will ascribe different monikers to those, but I’m very happy being where I am at this moment in time, so I can’t complain.”

Nicholas will soon reprise his role as Prince Henry in Red, White & Royal Wedding. Find out what he had to say about the sequel!
