Sarah Michelle Gellar is speaking out following the death of her Buffy the Vampire Slayer co-star Anthony Head.

If you didn’t see the sad news, Anthony‘s daughters Daisy and Emily announced on Friday (June 5) that the actor “passed away peacefully of complications due to pneumonia” at the age of 72.

Shortly after his death was announced, Sarah, 49, took to Instagram to pay tribute to Anthony.

“‘Tell Giles I figured it out and I’m ok.’ Well I don’t have it figured out and I’m not ok,” Sarah wrote. “But I know I’m the lucky one because I knew you. Thank you to Daisy and Emily who not only shared their dad with me, but with the world.”

Along with her message, Sarah shared several photos of Anthony including with their co-stars, with her husband Freddie Prinze Jr, and her daughter Charlotte.

In the hit series, Anthony played Rupert Giles, the official watcher of Sarah‘s Buffy Summers, assigned by the ancient British council to oversee the actions of the Slayer.

Along with his role on Buffy, Anthony was also known for his role on Ted Lasso where he played Rupert Mannion, the ex-husband of Hannah Waddingham‘s character Rebecca Welton.

We’ve sadly lost many Buffy the Vampire Slayer stars since the show wrapped in 2003.
