With the victory, Mirra becomes the youngest French Open women’s singles champion since the mid-2000s and caps off a remarkable breakthrough tournament in Paris. The World No. 8 entered the event as one of the sport’s rising stars, only dropping just one set on her way to the title.

Mirra controlled the championship match from the start, keeping the Cinderella run of qualifier Maja Chwalinska from continuing. Maja had become one of the biggest stories of the tournament after advancing from the qualifying draw all the way to her first Grand Slam final.

The victory marks Mirra’s first Grand Slam championship and continues the Russian-born teenager’s ascent, coached by former Wimbledon champion Conchita Martínez. She reached her first major final earlier this week with a dominant semifinal win over Ukraine’s Marta Kostyuk.

Congratulations to Mirra on the milestone achievement!
