Kelsey Grammer might be making a major career shift in the near future.
In a new interview with Us Weekly published on Wednesday (June 24), the 71-year-old Frasier actor admitted that he has “wrestled” with the idea of running for political office.
“I would consider it. It would possibly tick that box for me, in terms of the service I feel I should have given to my fellow man – to my fellow countrymen – that I missed in the military,” Kelsey said. “Maybe [running for office] would be the way to do it.”

However, Kelsey, who is the the host of the new Fox Nation series The Patriot War, noted that he wants to be present for his eight children.
“I have a young family. I don’t want to be an absentee dad, so I put it on hold a little bit, but I do intend to live for quite a while,” the Emmy winner explained. “I’m vital and prepared to stay that way for quite a while, and yes, it’s likely I will at least throw my hat in the ring in some way.”
If you didn’t see the news, Kelsey and wife Kayte welcomed their fourth child together, a son named Christoper, in October 2025. He also has four adult children from previous relationships.

Kelsey, who is a longtime and outspoken Republican, has aligned himself closely with Donald Trump during his second administration. In an interview from last year, the Cheers star called Trump, 80, “one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had. Maybe the greatest.”
Kelsey wouldn’t be the first celebrity to run for political office. Many other stars have also gotten into politics over the years.
