Madonna is making Confessions II a family affair.
Ahead of the release of her highly anticipated studio album on Friday (July 3), the 67-year-old Queen of Pop shared a snippet of her new song “The Test” on Monday (June 29), co-written by and featuring her 29-year-old daughter Lola Leon.
The track was co-produced by Stuart Price, Madonna and Arca.
“The song I wrote with my daughter, Lola. She approached me about writing a song together as a way to heal our relationship. It was a really important moment, and it solidified the idea that now is the time to make this record,” Madonna recently explained in a conversation for Interview Magazine.

“She approached me. She’s been very reticent to work with me. She doesn’t want to be perceived as my daughter taking advantage of her privilege. She’s been very stand-offish, working at her own pace, and I respect that deeply. But then one day she came to me and she said, ‘You know what? I’m holding on to something and maybe it’s a kind of… I don’t want to say anger… maybe resentment? Because at the end of the day she didn’t ask for this [life]. She had been through her adolescence struggling with those feelings for a long time. Then she came to me and she said, ‘Let’s write a song together, I think it’ll be a very healing experience. I was like, ‘OK, you’re on. Let’s do it,’” she later explained in an interview with Graham Norton.
