The series premiere of Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro just aired and there was a shocking double elimination at the end of the night.
The series was pre-recorded and is part reality show, part competition series. In addition to the dances in the ballroom, we see the contestants as they live together in one house while competing on the show.
Derek Hough, who is a current DWTS judge and the former pro with the most wins, serves as a judge alongside Strictly Come Dancing judge Shirley Ballas, who also is the mother of Mark Ballas. The host of the show is Robert Irwin.
Season one began with 12 contestants and by the end of the first episode, we were down to 10. For the first week, the contestants were put into six pairs. Women danced with women and men danced with men.
The judges ended up sending home one woman and one man at the end of the show.

“It sucks to hear your name, but I’m so proud,” she said after getting eliminated. “I have lessons from some of the greatest in the industry through the comments, good and bad, and I’ll take them in and figure out what’s next.”

Jake Monreal – Eliminated
Dancer Jake Monreal was the other contestant sent home in week one.
