Beyonce was one of the surprise performers at her husband Jay-Z‘s third Yankee Stadium show and she wowed with a performance of “Drunk in Love,” complete with her own group of backup dancers!
The 44-year-old Grammy-winning superstar performed in the late hours of the night on early Monday morning (July 13) at the baseball stadium in New York City.
While the show was scheduled to take place on Sunday night, it didn’t start until after midnight on early Monday morning due to security concerns. News outlets have revealed that fans rushed the venue’s gates, with some breaking through security and causing a full lockdown of the stadium. A police source told ABC7 that “for a while, no one was allowed in or out.”
Beyonce was one of many artists who surprised the crowd at the show. Night three of Jay-Z‘s three-show residency at Yankee Stadium was billed as “Extra Innings,” with a career-spanning set list.
Roc Nation shared some videos, which you can watch below.
“I appreciate your patience. We gonna have a good time. I got some s–t for you, I promise you,” Jay announced as the show finally began at roughly 12:20 a.m.
“There was like ten thousand people outside, and they closed all the doors ‘cuz [people] rushed the door, and I didn’t want to start music and have people get trampled. I’m really sorry for the inconvenience.”
Beyoncé‘s appearance comes a week after she surprise-released her new song “Morning Dew (Donk)” on July 4.
The previously unreleased track will appear on the 20th-anniversary edition of her 2006 album B’Day, which is scheduled to arrive on September 4. It marks her first new material since the release of Cowboy Carter in 2024.
