Rita Ora joined the Descendants franchise in the 2024 film Descendants: The Rise of Red.
The 35-year-old singer and actress was cast in the fourth installment as the Queen of Hearts and reprises the role in the new fifth movie, Descendants: Wicked Wonderland.
Queen of Hearts was described as “the withholding, tyrannical Queen, who rules over the kingdom of Wonderland with an iron fist,” for The Rise of Red.
In the fifth movie, she has a bigger role, and even sings a duet with Brandy!
However, there was a time when Rita nearly wasn’t cast as there were two other pop stars in consideration for the role.
Back in 2025, Rita‘s on-screen daughter, Kylie Cantrall, who plays Red, revealed that two other popular singers were in the running!
“Rita Ora is my mom, which is sick,” Kylie shared on the Zach Sang Show. “She wasn’t attached to it yet at the time before, ’cause I was the first one casted.”
Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera were in consideration for Queen of Hearts
During her appearance on the Zach Sang Show, Kylie was reminded that she previously revealed two other people were in consideration, and she spilled on Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera‘s early involvement.
“They were in talks at the time when I first was going through the process. Yeah, kind of crazy,” Kylie said before gushing over Rita Ora.
“But no, Rita is incredible. I truly feel there’s no one that could have played Queen of Hearts. Like, it was made for her. She is that girl. She’s so sweet. Not as mean as the Queen of Hearts at all,” Kylie said. “She’s just so cool. She just is that diva in the best way.”
