Fans were confused by Conan O’Brien‘s drastic change of hair in the latest episode of his podcast.
The 63-year-old comedian sat down with Molly Shannon for an episode of Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend uploaded on Monday (July 20), but many viewers were more focused on Conan‘s slicked-back hairdo.
“Sitting here watching thinking, are we just ignoring his hair?” said one of the top YouTube comments.
“They mistakenly oiled his hair, not his chair. Easy mistake, one letter off,” joked another person.
Conan shared a better look at his hairstyle in an Instagram post showing him posing alongside guest Molly Shannon.
“Wig stealing, hospital lunches, and “being the mayor;” listen to my conversation with Molly Shannon,” he wrote in the caption.
The comments on his Instagram were also primarily about his hairstyle, as those familiar with the comedian are used to his signature pompadour.

He followed up on the hair post on Tuesday (July 21) night with a new Instagram post showing stills from the podcast and a closer look at his hair. The photo slideshow included four of the same pictures of Conan from the slideshow, each with a screenshot of a funny hair-related comment pasted on top.
“Seeing Conan‘s hair like this feels illegal,” said the first comment.
“Why is Conan wet,” said the second.
The third photo had a screenshot of a comment saying, “Girl talk to us about this hair!!!!”
And the final one said, “who hosed down Conan?”
