Ariana Grande is suing the alleged hackers who shared her unreleased songs, photos, and videos.

The Wicked star’s legal team filed a complaint on Monday (July 27). The defendants are two unidentified John Does.

What is Ariana Grande alleging was hacked?

According to the complaint (via People), Ariana is suing over allegedly hacked “personal digital accounts of photographers and producers” who worked closely with her, which she claims has resulted in “unlawful and egregious theft, dissemination, and exploitation of unreleased content.”

The hacked content reportedly includes photographs, video and audio recordings, unreleased songs, and more.

She also alleges the defendants have profited from the files after selling the content “on the dark web for significant sums of money.”

Ariana claims 45 of her unreleased songs were hacked and eventually leaked

“In 2023 alone, 45 unreleased songs belonging to Ms. Grande were hacked, stolen, and leaked by Defendants,” the complaint says. “Since her music debut in 2011, hundreds of similar leaks have taken place.”

Part of the complaint’s goal is to “uncover the identities” of the alleged hackers.

“The lawsuit is intended to serve as a deterrent against future acts of this nature — not only targeting Ariana, but also the many artists who have faced similar invasions of their privacy and theft of their creative work,” a source close to Ariana told People. “Artists deserve the right to control how and when their art is shared with the world. The unlawful theft and distribution of creative work undermines that right and should not be tolerated.”

She has previously said she wants to “get to the bottom” of how leaks happen

In August 2024, while visiting Hot Ones with Sean Evans, Ariana talked about leaked music and revealed how “dishearting” and “disappointing” she finds it to be.

“And I am constantly trying to get to the bottom of like how people get stuff,” she said at the time. “Whether it’s like videos or pictures or audio, songs and then also like commented on criticized blah blah blah.

She continued, “So it’s conflicting because that is very frustrating and feels very dehumanizing, and then the other side is like…but I’m so grateful to be an artist that people care about and my fans want more of me, so they’re going to these extremes to steal and break in…but yeah I sit somewhere in between being grateful to be here and at all and being like but really, come on, so that’s how I feel.”

In the meantime, Ariana is preparing to release her new album Petal soon. Here’s why that’s the name of the album.
