Ariana Grande‘s new album Petal includes a short track as the eighth song: “Warning Signs (Interlude).”

The song is just 1 minute and 17 seconds long and serves as a turning point on the album.

Ariana appears to use the song as the shift from initial infatuation that she has with a guy to the realization that there are issues in the relationship.

Ariana starts of the track, “Blind half the time / I run through all your warning signs / I wonder, why I answer each time?”

There’s a possibility that Ariana is singing about her ex-husband Dalton Gomez, whose body is covered in tattoos, something she references in the lyrics.

“Wear me like your new tattoos / And yet your favorite muse just simply disappears,” she sings.

Ariana notes on the track that the guy makes her feel things she hasn’t felt in a while, but suddenly will ghost her. By the end of the track, she realizes, “You don’t deserve me / You know you don’t, you never have.’

Ariana previously explained the upcoming album’s title.

“It’s called petal, basically about something that is full of life, growing through the cracks of something cold and hard and challenging,” she said.

“It’s kind of about breaking up with all different kinds of negative attachments, whether it’s my own monsters in my own head, external voices, things that no longer serve me. It was a writing experiment for me to use that as the template, so that I could be talking about one thing, sharing something, and people could use it however they want, and apply it to their own life.”

“It’s a little feral, as well, yeah, it’s definitely from a place that I have been, maybe, like, too shy or polite to tap into before, and this kinda just feels like, ‘f–k it,’” Ariana added.
