In 2021, Nomadland won Best Film at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars, with Anthony Hopkins winning Best Actor at both shows for The Father and Frances McDormand winning Best Actress at both for Nomadland, showing one of the years where the British and American awards shows lined up very closely.

Cate Blanchett won Best Actress at the BAFTAs for Tár, while Michelle Yeoh won the Oscar.
In 2024, the BAFTAs and Oscars were more in sync: Oppenheimer did well at both shows, winning Best Film at both.
Cillian Murphy won Best Actor at both BAFTAs and the Oscars, and Emma Stone won Best Actress at both for Poor Things.
Last year, Anora won Best Picture at the Oscars, while Conclave took home the award at the BAFTAs.The acting winners lined up perfectly at both ceremonies: Adrien Brody won Best Actor at both the BAFTAs and the Oscars for The Brutalist, while Mikey Madison won Best Actress at both for Anora.
Awards experts say that sometimes BAFTA winners follow the same pattern as the Oscars, especially in acting and directing categories, but there’s no guarantee. The Oscars will take place on Sunday, March 15.
