Just Jared: It seems now more than ever, people are really craving uplifting stories. People really want joy and happiness in their lives. What is it like to know that you might be the person responsible for being a bright spot in someone’s week?
Lacey Chabert: Oh my goodness. That’s like really touching to even hear. I know when I turn on my television, I’m looking for hope and joy and laughter. And the fact that I might get to be a small part of that for other people, I really don’t take it lightly. I consider it an honor. And I put my whole heart into these movies and into this show, into the product line I have coming out with Hallmark. And I really feel quite privileged that I have the chance to be a part of people’s celebrations and traditions. And it’s something that I’m deeply grateful for.
Just Jared: The show is all about celebrating people who are making an impact in their communities. Is there any co-star or actor/actress at Hallmark that you’ve worked with that you would love to work with on the show and see get a celebration of their own?
Lacey Chabert: Oh my goodness what a great question. I mean honestly the list goes on. It would be just about everyone I’ve worked with at Hallmark. There is such a family feeling. And some people ask me, ‘Is it really like that? Are you guys all really close? Is it really that feel-good?’ And the answer is yes. What you see is really what you get. And to be a part of something that, that just overall, and it’s, you know, as a whole is about bringing goodness back into the world is really a fulfilling thing. And I don’t think I could just choose one person.
You know, I love that we’ve had the chance to work together. A lot of us over and over again, Brennan Elliott and I have done 10 movies together. He is so wonderful and I’m always in his corner. Andrew Walker and I we just finished She’s Making a List together. It was our second movie but even though it had been a while since we worked together. It also feels like we also done 10 movies together because we know each other so well. And Tyler Hynes and I have done a couple. And there’s some people that I haven’t had the chance to work with yet that I would love to. And there’s just a feeling of camaraderie. We support each other and there’s genuine friendships there. And I think that spills over onto the screen. You know, I had the chance to make Haul Out the Halloween. That’ll be on October 11th. And I love those movies so much because we are having so much fun behind the scenes. Like the most challenging part of those jobs is not for me is not laughing, particularly at Melissa Peterman. I mean, she’s just the funniest. Stephen Tobolowsky, Ellen Travolta, Wes Brown. They’re all just absolutely hilarious. And we love each other. You know, it’s a good sign when they call cut and no one runs to their chair, to their trailer. We all just go hang out with each other like wherever that is whether it be you know grabbing a snack or just standing around in the cul-de-sac. We just love each other’s company.
Just Jared: That’s so lovely and I think it really shows on screen when you watch the movies and the films and even the way you all support each other on social media.
Lacey Chabert: It’s really nice. I mean, so many of us are on like text threads together and we keep in touch with each other. We support each other and it’s nice. It’s just so nice to have that. It feels like a safe place to fall.
Just Jared: Is there a moment from season two that you’re like especially excited for fans to see?
Lacey Chabert: Yes, we have some really fun surprises at the celebrations themselves. I mean, my favorite moment every episode is when the hero walks in and they realize that it’s for them. And to see them take in a little bit of that love being reflected back at them that they’ve put out into the world is so special. We have a vow renewal. We surprise a couple of our heroes with loved ones. Those were very emotional moments. And there’s just a lot of funny stuff. There’s a lot of unexpected things. There’s a lot of happy accidents. And it just, I remember when I was doing the show a couple of weeks into it, I looked over to our showrunner and our producers and who are also my dear friends now. And I said thank you for this opportunity that I feel like I actually [am] right where I’m meant to be. And that is such a fulfilling thing. It’s really an honor to get to shine a spotlight on such deserving souls.
Just Jared:: What is it like in these super emotional moments for you during Celebrations filming?
Lacey Chabert: Well, it’s a different experience for me, right? Because I’m not playing a character, there’s no script and it’s me just being me, which is a little vulnerable. It’s actually a lot vulnerable and it can be a little scary at times. And sometimes I end up sharing things that I didn’t plan to or expect to and stories that maybe people don’t know about me or haven’t heard. And, it’s kind of freeing in one way. And it’s also a little intimidating because I’m quite a private person, but it’s been really rewarding for me to open up that part of myself to our audience, especially to this audience who has been so loyal to us and who follows along and who truly care and to also have the opportunity to tell some of our fans stories is something that we’ve done a bit of. And I want to hopefully be involved in doing more of because we deserve to—sure, they deserve to have their series story—stories shared as well.
Just Jared: Would you ever love to host a Celebrations episode with your Mean Girls co-stars?
Lacey Chabert: Absolutely. If they would be into it, I would love that. I think that would be a truly full circle moment.
