Jodie Sweetin is sharing an update on where she stands with Full House co-stars Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen.

When the hit ABC sitcom first premiered in 1987, Jodie was 5-years-old while the Olsen Twins were six-months-old.

During her recent appearance on The McBride Rewind Podcast, Jodie, now 44, said that she had a genuine bond with Mary-Kate and Ashley, now 39, as they all grew up together over the course of the show’s 8-season run.

Off set, Jodie said that “they would come spend the night at my house. They’d come to my cabin on the weekends with my parents and I. We’d go horseback riding. We would go to Disneyland. I mean, I’ve got pictures of us playing dress up at my house; they’re like three, I’m like six, you know, just kid stuff and I loved it.”

After Full House ended in 1995, the Olsen Twins went on to star in multiple movies together before retiring from acting and taking over the fashion world. As for Jodie, she struggled with substance abuse addiction before ultimately getting sober in 2008.

In the two decades since Full House ended, the three “haven’t talked” as their lives went in different directions, Jodie shared.

“People are like, ‘Oh, well, do you guys not talk? Is it bad?’ They were 8 years old when the show finished. We weren’t as close as we were,” she explained. “We would see each other at, you know, our family events and dinners and it wasn’t like there was bad blood between any of us, but they moved to New York and then, you know, got married and were a fashion empire and sort of moved into that world and, you know, so it was like we just sort of drifted apart.”

Jodie did note that she would occasionally see Mary-Kate and Ashley over the years, but it wasn’t until Bob Saget‘s death in 2022 that the entire Full House cast reunited.

“And it was just like it was before,” Jodie recalled. “It was normal. We all, you know, spent like four days just constantly together… and it was like nothing had changed.”

Also in the new interview, Jodie addressed her complicated relationship with Candace Cameron Bure as they sit on opposite ends of the political spectrum, with Candace being a conservative Christian while Jodie is an outspoken support of the LGBTQ+ community and reproductive rights.

“This is just who I am and what I believe, and if that isn’t something we share, cool,” Jodie said of Candace. “I’m not going to change anything. I can still have a relationship with her where I can hug her when I see her. I love her. I don’t want bad things to happen to her. I will respect her, and her ability to do whatever.”

In an interview from last year, Elizabeth Olsen reflected on growing up as the younger sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley.
