Donald Trump revealed the first thing he said to his wife, Melania Trump, on her birthday in the immediate aftermath of another alleged assassination attempt.
The first lady marked her 56th birthday on Sunday (April 26), mere hours after she and the 79-year-old president were rushed out of the Washington Hilton when an alleged attacker stormed the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, which they were both attending.
During an interview, Donald reflected on the conversation that he had with his wife once they were safely back at the White House.

While on 60 Minutes, which aired on Melania‘s birthday, the president wished her a happy birthday while speaking with journalist Norah O’Donnell.
Reflecting on the incident from the evening prior, Donald was asked how he dealt with her birthday “after what happened last night.”
“Well, it was… Yeah, by the time we get back here, it’s like around 12:00, and I said, ‘Happy birthday, darling,’ ” he shared, explaining that they arrived back at the White House right around the start of her special day.
His remarks on 60 Minutes came after Donald said that the shooting had been a “rather traumatic experience” for his first lady during a press conference.
“Melania was cognizant,” he said, via People.
He added, “The first lady was doing a terrific job. She loves the country. She recognizes it better than any. But she told me numerous times, she said, ‘You are in a dangerous job.’ ”
Cole Allen, the suspect behind the alleged assassination attempt, was charged at an arraignment on Monday (April 27).
Meanwhile, the president and first lady have already shifted focus to hosting some very special guests.
