Alan Ritchson is finally breaking his silence on a fight with a neighbor.
The 43-year-old Reacher star made an appearance on Armchair Expert on Monday (July 27), where he went in-depth and provided context for a brawl involving his Tennessee neighbor earlier this year.
Alan said he was “putting along” on his motorbike when he was allegedly confronted by Ronnie Taylor in front of himself and his kids on the street.
“That’s when it got weird,” he recalled, saying the man “came at [him] pretty aggressively” and that Alan could “smell alcohol” on the man’s breath before he received a “two-hand shoved off the bike.”
“At that point, there’s no conversation. I’ve got to protect me and got to protect my kids and get us off the street safely, and that means getting the guy out of the picture. So I hit the guy,” he said.
Alan said that he can’t go bike riding with his sons anymore because they got spooked and he “can’t convince them to do it” now.
“My kids won’t ride with me anymore. He robbed me of that. Like f–k that, dude,” he said.
“My wife, [Catherine “Cat” Ritchson], was at a retreat. I had no way to contract her. I was the sole caretaker of my kids … calming them down, assuring them, ‘I’m not gonna get arrested, I don’t think,’ [with an] army of cops on my porch.”
He also revealed something that may have “saved [his] life”: a body camera he had bought the year before and wore for the first time that day.
“If anything makes you go, ‘Maybe God is real…if I hadn’t had that, dude, I’d probably still be in jail. The cops came to arrest me that day and they only had [a tape from a neighbor] to go off of. … [My video] changed the course of my life forever.”
“It was the scariest thing I’ve ever been through,” he admitted.
“I’ve never met that guy ever in my life. Never seen him before. He lied to TMZ about [telling us] the day before, ‘Hey, buddy. Slow down.’ None of that was true,” Alan went on to claim about the man, who has spoken out to the media while Alan has remained silent until now.
After an investigation, it was determined that Alan was not the one who instigated the fight and that he had acted in self-defense.
