Carlos Alcaraz is prioritizing his recovery.

On Friday (April 24), the 22-year-old Spanish tennis superstar took to X to announce that he is withdrawing from the 2026 Rome Open and 2026 French Open, held at Roland-Garros outside Paris, due to a wrist injury he suffered earlier this month.

“It’s a complicated moment for me, but I’m sure we’ll come out stronger from here ❤️” Alcaraz added.

Following his announcement, the official Roland-Garros account sent Alcaraz well wishes.

“Wishing you all the best in your recovery Carlitos, we’ll miss you,” the account wrote.

The seven-time Grand Slam champ suffered a wrist injury during a match at the 2026 Barcelona Open on April 14. He withdrew from that tournament, telling the media that his “wrist gave way” and he began feeling “a discomfort that gradually increased” during the match.

“It’s a situation I thought I had previously experienced and that it wouldn’t get worse,” Alcaraz said. “I have to listen to my body.”

He added, “I have to go home and begin recovery as soon as possible with my team.”

Late last year, Carlos Alcaraz shocked fans when he announced his split from his longtime coach.
