Martha previously spoke with Variety and mentioned she was “hearing rumors” about the biopic being in development and the working title as “Good Thing.”
The film will be about the lifestyle media mogul’s career. She was at the pinnacle of lifestyle media in the 90s and the early 2000s, known for her best-selling books and her Emmy-winning show Martha Stewart Living.
Her Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia conglomerate helped her become the first self-made female billionaire in the U.S. when it went public in 1999.
She fell under legal scrutiny in 2001 after selling her stake in ImClone Systems and avoiding a significant financial loss. During her highly publicized trial, Martha was found guilty of conspiracy, obstruction and two counts of lying to federal investigators, leading her to spend five months in jail and then two years on supervised release.
In recent years, she has remained quite active with her hosting and various brand deals. She released her 100th cookbook in 2024 alongside a Netflix documentary called Martha. She also co-hosted the reality cooking show Yes, Chef! on NBC in 2025.
Over the weekend, Cate attended the Olivier Awards and was caught on camera giving someone the middle finger.
