Deadline reported that the short film is in the works, but no details about the plot are known as of this time. Ellen did confirm the news by sharing the story on Instagram, adding, “Excited for this.”

Ellen voiced Dory in the 2003 movie Finding Nemo and the 2016 sequel Finding Dory. The first movie grossed nearly $1 billion of the box office and the sequel crossed that benchmark. They’re definitely among the most beloved movies in the Disney and Pixar catalog.

This marks Ellen‘s return to Hollywood after her comedy special For Your Approval in 2024, in which she talked about her exit from daytime TV and noted that she was done with the entertainment industry. Ellen and her wife Portia de Rossi left California and moved to England to escape the U.S. amid the second term of president Donald Trump.

Ellen is best known for her talk show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which ran for 19 seasons and ended in 2022.
