The Harry Potter TV show is bringing back a character for the upcoming TV show that was not featured in the movies!
Peter Serafinowicz will be portraying Peeves the Poltergeist in the Harry Potter HBO Max series, Variety reports. Peter is known for his roles in The Tick, Shaun of the Dead, and John Wick: Chapter 2, as well as providing the voice of Darth Maul in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace.
The ghostly jokester was supposed to be played by Rik Mayall in the films, however, the character ended up being cut.
Rik, who passed in 2014, once recounted, “I did a little bit of filming then I went home and got the money – significant – then a month later they said ‘Rik, sorry about this, you’re not in the film.’”
Season one of Harry Potter, dubbed Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, will debut over the holidays.
