Lexi Minetree takes on the role of Elle Woods in the new Prime Video prequel series Elle.
The iconic character was originally created by Reese Witherspoon, who gave Lexi her blessing to play the role and is serving as an executive producer on the series.
The show begins with Elle Woods celebrating her 16th birthday with a Sweet 16 party at her family’s Bel-Air home, but then she learns that her family is moving to Seattle for her dad’s career after he botched a plastic surgery operation in L.A.

While Lexi plays a 16-year-old in the series, she was 23-years-old when she landed the role and she turned 24 just after filming began.
Lexi is now 25 while promoting the show and filming season two. She was born n April 20, 2001, just months before the first Legally Blonde movie was released in theaters.

Lexi told THR about making the role her own and not an imitation of Reese‘s version.
“I went to theater school, and the thing about theater is one play can be done many times by different people. You have the same text, but two people can do it differently. It’s a disservice to try and copy what the other person did because I’m not Reese. She did something incredible, and now the movies are immortalized for people to watch whenever they want to see her performance. If I tried to copy her, it would seem like an imitation. If I didn’t bring my own experiences into it, I feel like it would have an artificial quality to it. I did all this work upfront. I spent hours and hours and hours. I watched the movie an ungodly amount of times, seriously,” she said.
