Jelly Roll is speaking candidly about his weight loss journey.

In a new YouTube video posted on April 18, the 41-year-old country music singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, admitted that he’s been feeling “scared” to step on the scale after saying that he’s “lost” his “way” amid his journey to shed pounds.

Keep reading to find out more…Jelly Roll said that he had decided to “enjoy the holidays” and be a little less strict in terms of his diet, before breaking his collarbone at the end of last year, which meant he had to “quit” running, walking and exercising for a “period of time.”

If you didn’t know, Jelly Roll started his weight loss journey in 2023 when he weighed over 500lbs. In his Men’s Health cover story, published in January, the Grammy winner revealed that he had dropped 275lbs.

“We hit the goal and it was right before the holidays, so I was like, ‘You know what man, I’ve been working hard for the last three years losing this weight, I’m going to enjoy the holidays,’” he recalled in the new video.

“I had a big Thanksgiving meal, I had a big birthday meal, I ate a big Christmas meal,” he continued. “Kinda got off the rails and I broke my collarbone…a few days before Christmas.”

Jelly Roll admitted that he has been “avoiding the scale” recently as he was “afraid” of how much weight he had gained, after saying, “I have, to some degree, lost my way.”

“I am scared to [weigh in],” he said. “I feel really fat, I feel really bloated, I feel like the scales are going to let me down.”

When he stepped on the scale again on April 10, Jelly Roll weighed in at 276.2 lbs, which he says is a 12-pound gain.

Jelly Roll went on to say he plans on continuing the his weight loss journey before revealing that he wants to run the New York City Marathon in November.

“I’ve never ran a marathon or thought about running a marathon,” he said in the video.

He also shared that he still hasn’t reached his goal “maintenance weight,” adding that he wanted to lose a further 40 to 50 lbs., and would love to pose shirtless for a magazine shoot.

“I know it’s getting real silly now,” Jelly Roll shared, “but I just believe there’s a story that a guy can go from 560 lbs. to a shirt off picture, it’s absurd.”
