Lamar Odom is responding to Khloe Kardashian‘s comments about their marriage.

Back in March, Netflix premiered the documentary Untold: The Death & Life of Lamar Odom and in it, the 46-year-old former NBA star said he married into the Kardashian family for the “lifestyle.” His friend, Anthony “Pumpkin” Booker, claimed he told him on the day of his wedding to Khloe, 42, that he was doing it because the family had “mad connections” and he wanted to “better his future.”

When the doc started streaming, Khloe later responded to those assertions on her podcast Khloe in Wonder Land.

Seeing as she participated in the doc, she felt particularly deceived by his comments.

“You’re sitting on camera saying you married me for fame? Like, what?. I feel so dumb. I spent hours doing this documentary as a favor. I’m not paid one penny. I’m pissed that I’m even involved,” she lamented.

Now Lamar is responding to Khloe, clarifying that he never married her for her fame.

“That never came out of my mouth,” he said during the Nothing’s Off the Table podcast, via People. “I think that was my kids or my children or whoever they were interviewing at the time, because, you know… I didn’t really need [her].” His kids Destiny and LJ were also featured in Untold.

Notably, Lamar went on to say that he did love Khloe and did not “need more clout.”

“I didn’t really need anybody, you know, at that time,” he added. “Right before I was getting married, I was in a relationship with an with an A+ actress. When I met Khloe, so many things just fit naturally.”

Earlier this year, Lamar checked into rehab after his DUI arrest.
