Mason Thames is entering the John Wick universe!
The 18-year-old actor was just announced to join the cast of the upcoming franchise movie Caine, according to Deadline, with Lionsgate also confirming the news.
Details on Mason‘s role is currently being kept under wraps.
What is Caine about?
Caine is described as “an Hong Kong-style action thriller much like those that made Yen famous,” with the latest screenplay written by The Batman Part II scribe Mattson Tomlin.
Who else is starring in Caine?
Donnie Yen will reprise his role as Caine from John Wick: Chapter 4, and he will also direct and executive produce, bringing his “signature approach to action filmmaking, blending precision choreography with emotional storytelling.” Rina Sawayama will return to her role as the fearless daughter of Hiroyuki Sanada’s Shimazu Koji from Chapter 4 as well!
When does it film?
Production is currently underway on the upcoming film, continuing Caine’s story after being freed from his obligations to The High Table.
Mason‘s casting comes off the heels of wrapping up filming on the upcoming live-action How to Train Your Dragon 2 just a few weeks ago. That film is set to debut in theaters in June 2027.
He’s also set to star in the upcoming Green Day inspired movie Nimrods with Mckenna Grace, and the film Idiots with Dave Franco.
