Madonna is embracing her sins.
The 67-year-old “Bring Your Love” Queen of Pop is releasing her new studio album Confessions II on Friday (July 3), including the song “My Sins Are My Savior” with 41-year-old “Alors on danse” Belgian singer-songwriter Stromae.
“You aremy life / You are my lover / Into the night (My ray of light) / Come into my life / My sins are my savior,” she sings on the track, along with singing lyrics in French.
“Je n’étais pas perdue / J’étais juste cassée / Ils ont essayé de me faire tomber / Je m’en fous / Mes péchés sont mon sauveur,” she sings. (“I wasn’t lost / I was just broken / They tried to bring me down, I don’t care / My sins are my savior.”)
“The messages from her entire career and her entire catalog are as relevant today, if not more relevant…she’s often misunderstood in that sense. This song is really getting inside the head of someone saying these things that I do, this is how I save myself,” Stuart explained on the TikTok live stream.
“I say these things so I don’t ball them up inside. Madonna is the biggest proponent of self-expression…in life, if you ball things up inside you, they grow in bad ways. There’s no sin in saying how you feel. There’s no sin in being who you are. It’s what saves you.”
