The Warner Bros movie, based on the iconic Mattel doll, hit theaters in July 2023 and brought in over $1 billion in less than a month, and has since secured its spot as one of the Top 20 highest-grossing films of all time.

In December 2024, reports suggested that a sequel was in the works. Then, in August 2026, it was revealed that the second movie hit a stalling point as the production studio’s CEO was hesitant to give the film’s two main leads a big raise.
