The trailer for Dakota Fanning‘s new movie has been released!
Independent Film Company has debuted the first trailer for the new movie The Sun Never Sets, starring the 32-year-old Emmy-nominated actress, Jake Johnson, and Cory Michael Smith.

Written and directed by Joe Swanberg, the movie marks the filmmaker’s first feature film in seven years.
Here’s the synopsis:
Wendy (Dakota Fanning) believes she’s perfectly happy in her relationship, until her older boyfriend, Jack (Jake Johnson), who is divorced with children, insists they take a break to make sure she’s truly okay giving up on the idea of marriage and babies. During this time, Wendy unexpectedly runs into her ex, Chuck (Cory Michael Smith), who reignites her carefree and spontaneous side, and suddenly seems to want a family. The three of them navigate a chaotic, confusing, and often funny relationship triangle, reminding us that the pursuit of love is beautiful and messy all at once.
The cast also includes Debby Ryan, Anna Konkle, Lamorne Morris, and Karley Sciortino.
“This story is very personal, and draws from several autobiographical elements of my life,” Swanberg shared with People. “Hearing Jake laugh (and cringe) when I recounted certain events, I knew we had something that could be entertaining, but also emotional. Dakota jumped in full force and had so much to share that I knew we had found the right material for our next project.”

The film takes place in Alaska, which ends up being a character of its own in the movie.
“Alaska is almost the most important character in the film,” Dakota said. “Without the Alaskan landscape, it would be a completely different movie. It was truly incredible to be surrounded by the nature, and to experience the sun never really setting.”
The Sun Never Sets releases in limited theaters August 28 before a wider release on September 4.
