Cillian Murphy is paying tribute to Sam Neill.
The 50-year-old Peaky Blinders star spoke out in remembrance of the actor, who suddenly passed away at the age of 78 on Monday (July 13).
“Like everyone who knew and worked with Sam, I admired him and adored him in equal measure,” he shared to Page Six in a statement.
He went on to call Sam “one of the kindest, funniest and gentlest people, and one of the finest actors. RIP.”
If you didn’t know, the two co-starred in the hit gangster series in the first two seasons, with Sam playing Chester Campbell, enemy of Tommy Shelby (Murphy). In the end of the second season, Sam‘s character was shot and killed.
Sam‘s family just released a statement following his passing.
Steven Spielberg is also paying tribute to the late actor, who starred in his smash-hit film Jurassic Park as Dr. Alan Grant. Read his statement.
Back in April, Sam revealed that he was cancer-free after undergoing CAR T-cell therapy. He was diagnosed with stage three blood cancer in March 2022.
Our thoughts and condolences go out to Sam Neill‘s family and friends during this difficult time. RIP. We have sadly lost many stars in 2026.
