Dwayne Johnson has his sights set on Broadway.
In a new interview with People, the 54-year-old Moana actor said that he’s been actively trying to take the stage in New York City to star in a new revival of the classic play The Odd Couple with Kevin Hart.
“For the past two and a half to three years, we have been working on my Broadway debut,” Dwayne said. “I’m revealing it now because it’s tequila talking.”
Dwayne went on to say that he and Kevin, 47, “were going to do The Odd Couple” in a new production from Hamilton producer Jeffrey Seller, but their schedules haven’t aligned.

“We should’ve been great. Kevin is my best friend. I love him to death, and the truth is he’s so booked for the next three to five years,” he said. “That’s his schedule, that’s a reality. I totally get it. And I love it and I respect him for that.”
The Black Adam actor went on to say that he may star in a Broadway production in the near future, even if Kevin can’t join him just yet. He said he’s currently looking into a theatrical opportunity with Jeffrey Seller and Thomas Kail, the director of Hamilton and the live-action Moana.
“So we’ll see, but maybe it’s The Odd Couple with Jeffrey. I don’t know, maybe it’s a musical and I could run around singing in keys that don’t exist,” Dwayne teased. “I might do a little dance. I might snatch my waist a little bit. We’ll see.”
The live-action Moana movie is out in theaters now. Watch the trailer here!
