New details about the upcoming reboot of The Blair Witch Project have been revealed after the project was originally announced in 2024.
Lionsgate and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster have teamed up for the reboot, with up-and-coming horror director Dylan Clark set to direct the film.
Dylan is best known for his work in the YouTube horror space and he’s currently adapting his horror short Portrait of God with horror legends Sam Raimi and Jordan Peele producing.
Original Blair Witch Project actors Joshua Leonard and Michael C. Williams have signed on as executive producers for the upcoming reboot alongside original filmmakers Eduardo Sánchez, Daniel Myrick, and Gregg Hale.
Despite its small $35,000 budget, the original Blair Witch Project went on to generate $249 million worldwide. Amid the announcement of the reboot in April 2024, Joshua went on social media to share his disappointment in not being asked back for the new project. It looks like that has changed now!
No details about the plot of the reboot have been announced as of this time, but we can only guess that the upcoming film will have a found-footage element as well. The project was originally announced during Lionsgate’s panel at 2024 CinemaCon.
